175th Celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday

The next event planned commemorating our community’s history and 175th birthday is the celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Our community has a unique place in history based on its relationship and influence with Abraham Lincoln when he was a lawyer on the Illinois Eighth Judicial Circuit.

Events planned are following: All events to be presented in the Courthouse Courtroom.



2:00 pm- 1850’s Cast-Iron Tombstone Trial Re-enactment Mt. Pulaski High School Drama Club - Donna Koehler, Director. Tickets for all seats required ($3 Adults; students, children FREE)… proceeds to Mt. Pulaski HS Drama Club & MPTHS Museum


3:30 pm- Guy Fraker - talk on 1850’s IL. Judicial Circuit … this research to be published in his new book on the 1850’s IL. 8th Judicial Circuit. Tickets for all seats required - FREE.

7:00 pm- Chris Vallillo (Civil War ballads & history) - FREE Chris Vallillo is a nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and folk musician who makes the people and places of “unmetropolitan” America come to life in song. Performing on six-string and bottleneck slide guitars and harmonica, Vallillo weaves original, contemporary, and traditional songs and narratives into a compelling and entertaining portrait of the history and lifestyles of the Midwest. He has been acclaimed by Dirty Linen magazine among others. A recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Artist Fellowship Award for music composition, Chris was also a nominee for the Illinois Arts Council's Governor's Award for Individual Artist and has received many other awards and acclamations over the past 30 years.
