2011: A Year of Celebration
Founded by Jabez Capps, George W. Turley and Dr. Barton Robinsons in 1836, on a small hill surrounded by central Illinois prairie, Mt. Pulaski will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2011. Since its founding, our community has prospered and grown because of its location and the many fine families and businesses, which have called Mt. Pulaski home.
The 175th Anniversary Committee is now planning several events throughout the year 2011, highlighted by the main anniversary celebration from June 30th through July 4th
Our goal is to fundraise $100,000.00 by the end of 2010. We hope by obtaining our funds early we will be able to plan and budget for an entire year of activities and celebrations.
The Mt. Pulaski 175th Committee would
like to thank the following families and businesses who to date have
contributed to Mt. Pulaski’s 2011 Celebration. For those who have yet to contribute, we hope you find it
within your means to do so by the end of this year—to help Mt. Pulaski’s 175th Committee reach their
goals.
Monies raised by the end of 2010 will allow our committee to budget for
the five events that we have planned for 2011:
(1) New Year’s Eve celebration
on the town square
(2) Abraham Lincoln’s birthday on February 12th
(3) General Casimir Pulaski’s birthday on March 5th
(4) Special 175th
Memorial Day commemorations on May 30th
(5) Founder’s Day
celebration—June 30th,
July 1st, July 2nd, July 3rd, and July 4th.
Simply
turning out for the various 2011 events will show support—so, regardless of
your contributions, we thank all of you in advance.
We
will see you in 2011.
Sincerely,
Tom Martin
Committee Chair
