Agriculture has long been
the backbone of our community and surrounding area. From the very early frontier where it provided sustenance to
our pioneer families to today where it is the leading economic engine that
drives our central Illinois economy.
Today’s
agriculture is a mix of yesterday’s lessons learned from the generations, which
came before us, to the adoption of today’s many new technologies. Whether it is global satellite
positioning, genetically modified seed or instantaneous communication between
buyer and seller, modern agriculture changes daily. And central Illinois is in the forefront of many of these
new innovations.
We hope to showcase today's agriculture when you visit in July for the Founders Day Celebration with several ag tours on Friday and Saturday July 1st and 2nd. Machinery, agronomics and field demonstrations will be highlighted.
Watch
for further information in the days to come concerning tour times and locations.
